Leisurely walk to Amiros - official time

Sunday night treat cos it's the school holidays. Pop into Amiros for desserts n drinks only. Ice creams for the kids, rose for the missus, couple of Peronis for me.

Location, location, location

I've lived here 16 years and I think that Rickleton (and Swinhope in particular) is an excellent location. It's close to many amenities and transport links but, being surrounded by greenery, I think is still has very rural feel. Driving from through Picktree then along Bonemill lane to home, you can be forgiven for thinking you are driving along some remote country lane.

Rickleton is a purely residential area surrounded by woodland and greenery. There are large playing fields to the front (about five football pitches) and rear of the property, with the rear field including a small children's play area. You can take a very pleasant woodland walks around the village and along the border of Lambton's Estate down to the River Wear.

Rickleton village centre is a 5 minutes walk away where you can find the following amenities:

-a good primary school

-a general dealer

- a chemist

- 2 GP practices / surgeries

- a hairdresser

- a Chinese takeaway

- Rickleton Cricket Club ground

- The Woodlands family pub with soft play area

- A community centre / church

Walking a little further beyond the centre, you reach the Coast to Coast (C2C) cycle route which leads eastwards to Sunderland and Westwards to Whitehaven.

There is a very popular Italian restaurant on Bonemill Lane at Harraton, which is a 10-15 minute walk from the house.

- 1.8 miles to A1 interchange at Chester le Street.

- 2 Miles to Chester le Street.

- 2-3 Miles to Durham County Cricket club ground at Riverside Chester le Street.

- 2.3 Miles to Chester Le Street train station, on the East Coast main line, with direct trains to Newcastle, York, Manchester and Birmingham.

- 3 miles to Washington Town Centre (Sainsbury's, Asda, Next, H&M, M&S Food, Aldi).
